Your baby’s development at two months

When he’s two months old you’ll probably notice your baby has developed the following characteristics:

  • His vision is developing and he can focus on objects that are up to 8 inches away and follow them with his eyes if they’re moving around. This means he’s getting interested in more complex designs and colours.
  • Your baby’s gaining weight quickly and is putting on as much as 2lb a month.
  • He’s sleeping far less and is awake for up to 10 hours a day.
  • As he gets stronger he can hold his head up for a few seconds at a time.
  • You may now be getting rewarded for all your efforts with your new baby by some lovely smiles.
  • His movements have become far smoother and less jerky.
  • Remember your baby is due his Meningitis C and DPT immunisations this month.
  • The DPT is also known as five in one and includes diptheria, whooping cough, (pertussis), tetanus, Hib (haemophilus influenzae B) and polio.
