It’s a good time to try and start encouraging regular sleeping habits in your baby. He should be sleeping for up to 15 hours per day, taking two or three daytime naps and maybe waking twice a night for feeds.
To encourage a good schedule, put your baby to bed between 6pm and 8pm every night. Keep any bedtime routines you start to establish consistent, so your baby starts to learn and look forward to a pattern.
For safety, never put your baby to sleep on his front. This sleeping position has been identified as a major risk factor in sudden infant death syndrome, so always place him on his back.
Avoid placing toys, pillows and large blankets in the crib with your baby, and keep the temperature in the room at a comfortable level. Health professionals recommend that the ideal room temperature for your baby is around 18°C or 65°F.
